Introduction
Hello! My name is Mikayil and I enjoy building
good-looking and well-working software and
websites. I got inspired to code by Apple
products and especially Steve Jobs. I love the
way Apple products just seamlessly work together
and how they create a great user experience.
The computer Kid
Looking back it, it seems I should have
gotten into coding much earlier in my life.
I've always loved computers and wanted to
know more about how they work. At first I
got involved into computers through video
games. I built my first gaming PC when I was
12 years old. It wasn't an impressive
machine, but I was proud that I managed to
build this working PC with a YouTube video.
I became obsessed with optimizing, styling
and customizing my system. I became the kid
that everyone asked for computer advice and
help.
First steps in programming
Fast forward a couple of years I wasn't
playing as much video games anymore, but I
became really obsessed with Apple's
ecosystem. My first experiences in
programming were made in
Swift
using an iPhone app and later finishing
Swift Playgrounds "Learn Swift" course. At
that point I knew a little bit about the
Swift syntax and basic programming concepts,
like If/Else, For & While Loops etc. I
realised that I needed a solid foundation. I
wanted a structured curriculum for that and
this led me to
FreeCodeCamp
which is an amazing resource for beginners
which I highly recommend as well as
The Odin Project
which is a bit harder to grasp at the
beginning but prepares you right from the
beginning to work like a real developer.
Time to get serious
After following these free curriculums and
gaining some certifications in
HTML, CSS and JavaScript
but still not being able to fully grasp some
concepts and connect the dots I decided to
spend some money on my education and try
another paid option which provided a
"Full-Stack-Developer Career Path" with a
very structured and well designed
curriculum/path. Of course I am talking
about
Codecademy which has worked amazingly well for me. The
way the course is structured with little
guided projects mid-lesson and big portfolio
projects with no guidance, videos, text led
me to absorb the knowledge taught and gave
me much better results.

This portfolio was a project for me. I've found
this amazing design, that I wanted to recreate
in my own code without looking at the original
code. Learning Front- and Back-end development
and combining these two is an amazing experience
and I'm heavily invested in this journey,
working on my skills every day. With hard work
and patience I managed to make my dream come
true and start working as a web developer.
